The idea of Diatribe Records formed itself in the minds of John Cosgrove and Daniel Jacobson while they both worked part time at a petrol station in Deansgrange, Dublin , in 1996. It took four years, but finally they released two vinyl only electronic releases which had parties in Dublin and Galway pumping, Dia 001 by Daniel Jacobson, and Dia 002 by Alan Dobbyn.

The label took a backseat as both Cosgrove and Jacobson went back to full time study and then in 2004 Jacobson left Ireland for a year to live in New Zealand . Having absorbed some diverse sounds from the great Auckland improv scene, he is returning to Dublin. Diatribe is reforming and getting ready to release a new compilation of electronic/jazz
/
improvisational music.
